Known as the Gateway to Char Dham Yatra of Uttarakhand, Haridwar is an extremely important city for pilgrimages and apart from being a gateway to four pilgrimage points, this city is also the starting point to start a journey to the sacred River Ganga and River Yamuna. Simply 343 kms away from the religious Vrindavan, Haridwar is a religiously famous tourist and devotee spot that is one of the seven holiest places for the Hindus.

Every 12 years, the ever so famous mass crowd pulling event of Kumbh Mela gets set up in Haridwar where millions of devotees, pilgrims and even tourists show up to perform ritualistic bathing ceremonies in order to cleanse their aura and release their past sins in the holy waters of River Ganga. The Brahma Kund, located in Har Ki Pauri is known as the spot where Amrit fell and thus is one of the most sacred Ghat of Haridwar.

Delhi


At a distance of just 144 kms from the religious town of Vrindavan is the city of Delhi, better known as Old Delhi and New Delhi and even though a lot of this city and its structures were tore down and rebuilt by its rulers constantly back then, Delhi has managed to keep its awestruck tourist attractions perfect! Jaipur

Amongst a few very amazing monuments in Jaipur one can definitely count the Hawa Mahal built in 1799 by Maharaja Pratap Singh that is rich with Rajput architecture and the other vital tourist sightseeing place is the Jantar Mantar observatory built in the 18th century that is a unique exhibit of instruments from the olden times that were used to study astronomy. Ranthambore


From Vrindavan, at the distance of over 525 kms is the beautiful city of Ranthambore which hosts an even more breathtaking and famous Ranthambore National Park for which people from all over the world are making it a point to stop by in this city for!

This is one of the largest national parks in northern part of India and was declared as one of the Project Tiger reserves in 1973. Ranthambore itself became into a national park entirely in 1980 and now includes many other neighboring sanctuaries and as of today is one of the most enduring and well built parks! The park is known for its reserve for the endangered tiger species as you can see these majestic predators roaming freely around in the park and besides that, there are numerous other species like leopards, nilgai, sambar, sloth bear and even hyenas that makes the trip to Ranthambore National Park worthwhile.

Good time to be visiting this park would be somewhere around the winter season i.e. from November to May as the dry deciduous forest makes sighting species very common and easy!

Dehradun


This famous gateway to the very famous hill station of Mussoorie is merely 306 kms from Vrindavan and is also a pass for the pilgrimage spots of Rishikesh and Haridwar.

This city is not only famous amongst tourists but also boasts about some of the finest schools all over India like the Doon school, Welham school for girls and Indian Military academy to name a few. Known for its religious importance, Dehradun has various tourist spots like the Tibetan temple on Rajpur road that is a very colorful Buddhist temple and the Tapkeshwar Shiv temple that derives its name from water droplets that originate from rock falls on the shrine’s Shivling, this city is located in the Doon valley and is in the foothills of the Himalayas! It nestles between two of India’s mightiest of the rivers, the Yamuna on the west and Ganges on east.

Rishikesh

Rishikesh is a small town that is at a distance of 288 kms from Vrindavan and is the municipal board in Dehradun district in Uttarakhand; this town is scenically beautiful and perfectly located at the point where the Holy Ganges River flows down all the way from the Himalayas.

Known all over the world as the ‘Place of Sagas’, Rishikesh is a spiritual town situated 24 kms from the upstream of Haridwar and surrounded by scenic beauty of the hills on three sides as the whole place is considered sacred; a place where meditation is the path to attain salvation. The River side of Ganges at Rishikesh is dotted by numerous ashrams of the Sadhus and saints and has its mythological importance as the place where Lord Vishnu defeated the demon Madhu in all its glory.

Nainital


This city derives its name from the Naini Lake and is located at an altitude of 1,938 mts. Above sea level with the lake that is now a prominent tourist spot for the hill station of Nainital. At a distance of 265 kms from Vrindavan, Nainital is one of the many famous tourist destinations of India and a very delightful hill-station in the Himalaya Mountains.

Amongst its many famous tourist destinations is the very well known Naini Lake that is known according to mythology as the place where Lord Shiva did his Tandav with his better half, Parvati’s body; this is also the highest peak in Nainital with a height of 2611mts. Another such important tourist point is the Nainital Zoo where many rare species like the snow leopard, Himalayan Black bear and even the steppe eagle are a common sight.

Observatory of the Aryabhatta Research Institute is located 9kms away from Nainital on Manora peak and many other renowned schools from the British period can be found here. This is one of the most beautiful and eye-captivating hill stations of India and is a must visit for tourists all over the world.

Udaipur


Udaipur, also known as the city of lakes and the administrative headquarters in charge for the state of Rajasthan in west India is just 522 kms away from Vrindavan. Besides the wonderful cultural variety, historic sites and the beautiful scenic locations, Udaipur is also very well known for its Rajput era palaces.

Fondly called the ‘Venice of the East’ for the numerous lakes in the city, Udaipur is the home of Lake Pichola, Udai Sagar, Swaroop Sagar and even the Fateh Sagar Lake and each one of them has a landscape of their own. Right on the eastern bank of the Lake Pichola is an array of Palaces all lined up one after the other from the 1559 construction era. The Mor Chowk, Suraj Gokhda, view of the Jag Mandir and the Chini chitrashala are few of the noteworthy places to visit for their stories, architecture and their culture when in Udaipur.

Ideal months to visit Udaipur would be October to January as the climate is pleasant and one can enjoy the picturesque views from various mystic points, gardens and even ancient monuments.

Ujjain


Known in ancient mythology as the capital of the Avanti Kingdom and traditionally, one of the seven sacred cities of the Hindus, Ujjayini then is now known by Ujjain as a common name but there are many other names used locally too. At a distance of 640 kms from the religious place of Lord Krishna i.e. Vrindavan, Ujjain is also one of the four sites that hosts the Kumbh Mela that happens every 3 years.

Amongst the most famous tourist attractions in Ujjain would be the Bhartruhari Caves which are intriguing in their carved structure and art work that tourists can admire whilst listening to the story behind these caves. Built in 1458AD was the Kalideh Palace by the Sultan of Mandu that is famous even in today’s date even after being demolished back then and rebuilt later. The Ram Mandir and the Ghat near the Mandir are also equally famous for their religious tales from the past and besides this temple, there are over a hundred different small and big temples and each with their own historic and strategic importance and beautifully carved architecture from the ancient period.

Ujjain experiences very extreme weather conditions all through the year; the summers are always hot and the winter months get very chilly and cold which is why it is best to visit this city from the months of October to march.
